Cheapest Home Insurance Quotes
Home insurance companies must hate the internet. Before the birth of the web you would perhaps pop down the high street and get two or three quotes or maybe pick up the phone and call round for a few quotes. But how could you be sure you were getting the best deal? You couldn’t. Now, with the internet, it is possible to search hundreds of insurance companies for quotes in a matter of minutes. Using special web sites (listed at the bottom of this article) you input your details (contents value, house rebuild value etc.) press submit and wait for the site to return the quotes back to you, in real time. Easy! Some things to bare in mind though…
Cheapest might not always be best. When you buy home and contents insurance you are effectively buying a promise that if something happens you will get compensated for it. However not all insurance companies are made equal, some really don’t like paying out and can make things very difficult. The best thing to do is do a little research first and go with reputable company. Make sure you read through ALL the small print. As boring as this sounds it is essential, you need to fully understand what you are and aren’t covered for, if you will pay any excess, if you cost go up drastically after the first year (if it does cancel the contract after the year and go to cheaper company), if your rates will go up if you make a claim etc.
I’d also recommend going for accidental cover for both home and contents insurance - accidents do happen, and it’s nice to know you have peace of mind knowing you are covered. A good strategy to get the absolute best quote is use the insurance search engines, list down half a dozen of the best quotes including details, then phone around these companies seeing if they will beat your best quote. Some will price match, others won’t. Here are the home insurance quote search engines (I would check out both sites as they list different companies)…
